I'm not ashamed to admit that I was incredibly surprised at how audiences reacted towards JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE. Not only did the sequel/reboot receive generally positive reviews, but it also pulled in almost $1 billion worldwide. That's impressive. Naturally, Sony Pictures got the ball rolling on a sequel which is already in production and finds Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Jack Black, and Kevin Hart all returning to reprise their roles.

As he's known to do, Dwayne Johnson took to Instagram to post a new image of the JUMANJI gang back in action and they look…well, pretty much exactly the same as they did in the first film. Enjoy?

Yes you’re favorite band is back ~ lookin’ lean (ish) and mean. Even though things may not be as they seem. So buckle up world because soon we’ll all play When a brand NEW JUMANJI drops this Holiday! Oh the fun you’re gonna have. Love, Dr. Smolder Bravestone #NewAdventuresAwait #TheGameThatPlaysYou #JUMANJI THIS CHRISTMAS.

As expectations were rather low going into JUMAJNJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE, the team definitely have a little more of a challenge ahead of them this time around. It will be exciting to discover just how they intend on switching it up this time around. In addition to Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, and Kevin Hart, the JUMANJI sequel will also see the return of Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, and Morgan Turner, who played the four real-world teenagers in the original, as well as Nick Jonas as Jefferson "Seaplane" McDonough and Rhys Darby as Nigel Billingsley, the players' main in-game guide. Newcomers includes Awkwafina, Danny Glover, and Danny DeVito. JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE director Jake Kasdan is helming the sequel, and has previously said that they plan on keeping the continuity with the original JUMANJI going.

Our hope is to keep a long continuity through the whole thing, even though the story that we’re telling in the second movie, the movie that we’re working on right now is much more connected to the first movie that I made a year ago than it is to the original. We love the idea of keeping all of this together and connected in some way or another.

The JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE sequel is currently slated for a December 13, 2019 release
