The Future, Matt Reeves, HBO Max

If you're still watching TV shows on a screen (pft!) like a chump, well, I've got news for you, The Future is coming! Deadline has reported that HBO Max is developing a one-hour sci-fi tech drama based upon Dan Frey's upcoming novel The Future Is Yours, and it will be unlike anything you've ever seen.

The Future will tell the story of "two best friends who invent the most revolutionary technological device in modern human history." Set in modern-day Silicon Valley, the series will grapple with "pressing questions about our relationship with technology" and will, drum-roll please, be told through an "innovative multimedia style that's never been seen on TV." The Batman director/co-writer Matt Reeves will serve as executive producer on The Future alongside Searching director/co-writer Aneesh Chaganty, who will also direct the series. Dan Frey will pen the script based on his own novel. As far as that the "innovative multimedia style" will turn out to be, I couldn't tell you, but my expectations are sky-high!

Matt Reeves' The Batman is slated to hit theaters on March 4, 2022, and it was recently announced that Aneesh Chaganty has co-written the script for a sequel to Searching that will now be directed by Will Merrick & Nick Johnson in their directorial debut.
