Earlier this month it was rumored that The CW's new THE LOST BOYS series will be doing a bit of gender swapping with the famous Frog Brothers (played by Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander in the films) and switching them up to The Frog Sisters. And today we have confirmation that this, in fact, the case as Cheyenne Haynes and Haley Tju (see below) have been cast as Liza and Cassie aka The Frog Sisters, who are described as:
Sharp, cool and lightly Goth, the Frog Sisters are teenage locals who work at Santa Carla’s comic-book store. Until Sam arrives, they think they’re the only ones aware of the darkness in this town.
Tju is perhaps best known around these parts for her role in the abandoned TREMORS TV reboot co-starring Kevin Bacon. That show didn't happen so I guess she moved onto this one. Meanwhile, the most genre-friendly film Haynes has on her resume is IT FOLLOWS director David Robert Mitchell's follow-up film UNDER THE SILVER LAKE co-starring Andrew Garfield. And while we're here, the show has also added Sarah Hay to the cast.
Her character, Mollie's rundown goes like this:
Turned into a vampire by David, Mollie has become her maker’s rival for leadership of the vampire gang. She travels in a small pack with her eternally 8-year-old son, Laddie, and a guardian, Hiram, who’s there to make sure she doesn’t get into too much trouble.
Here's the show's synopsis, not to be confused with, you know, the movie's synopsis:
Welcome to sunny seaside Santa Carla, home to a beautiful boardwalk, all the cotton candy you can eat… and a secret underworld of vampires. After the sudden death of their father, two brothers move to Santa Carla with their mother, who hopes to start anew in the town where she grew up. But the brothers find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into the seductive world of Santa Carla’s eternally beautiful and youthful undead.
This new series will be directed by Catherine Hardwicke (TWILIGHT) and is based on Heather Mitchell's script. Mitchell will be executive producing this new take on the classic Joel Schumacher film alongside Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge, Mike Karz, and Bill Bindley, with Rebecca Franko producing. The companies behind the pilot are Spoondoolie Productions and Gulfstream Television, in association with Warner Bros. Television.
