If you're like me, and the Venn diagram of your interests is the exact intersection between "Horror" and "Podcasts," you've probably heard of Lore, the show by Aaron Mahnke about true life scary stories and folklore. Well, if you haven't, you'll definitely hear soon because Amazon is jumping on the horror anthology series bandwagon, and they're bringing Lore right along with them.
They're currently developing a ten-episode first season based on the show, wihch will be executive produced by Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead). Glen Morgan (The X-Files) will serve as showrunner.
Based on the popular podcast of the same name, which has over 3.2 million monthly listens, the unscripted horror anthology series will present tales dealing with frightening, psychologically disturbing, and often paranormal true events that have spawned modern-day nightmares.
This is certainly a unique concept. While we've been getting a lot of horror and sci-fi anthologies on TV and streaming services lately, none of them actually deal with real events. It will be interesting to see how the atmospheric audio show translates into a visual medium. My guess is, spectacularly. More on this story as it develops!
