The Forever Purge (watch it HERE), the fifth entry in the Purge franchise, is now available to purchase on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD (pick up a copy HERE), and to mark the occasion a 9 minute clip from the film has been released online. While the clip is referred to as the “first 9 minutes”, it actually comes from deeper into the movie than that, starting at about the 20 minute point. The characters we see preparing for the annual Purge in the clip embedded above are people we have already met and gotten to know before these moments.
Purge franchise creator James DeMonaco, who has written every film in the series and directed the first three, wrote this one as well. Everardo Gout directed the film, which tells the story of
Adela (Ana de la Reguera) and Juan (Tenoch Huerta), who find solace at a Texan ranch, having fled a drug cartel in Mexico. Things go awry when a group of outsiders decide to keep purging beyond the allotted time when people can break any and all laws.
Ana de la Reguera and Tenoch Huerta are joined in the cast by Josh Lucas, Zahn McClarnon, Leven Rambin, Alejandro Edda, Elijah Hardin, Will Patton, and Cassidy Freeman. The Forever Purge was produced by DeMonaco, Sébastien K. Lemercier, Jason Blum, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form.
I really enjoyed The Forever Purge and already own copies of the previous four movies, so I will be adding this one to my collection as well. The movie was originally intended to be the final movie in the franchise, but DeMonaco has since had an idea for another sequel that will feature the return of The Purge: Anarchy and The Purge: Election Year star Frank Grillo.
