The Fog sequel talks have happened, says John Carpenter

The Fog, sequel, John Carpenter

When people think of John Carpenter, they likely think of Halloween, and how could they not; the 1978 slasher is one of the greatest horror films there is, but I've got an incredible soft spot for Carpenter's Halloween follow-up — The Fog. The film told the story of strange, glowing fog which swept over a small coastal town in California, bringing with it the vengeful ghosts of mariners who were deliberately killed in a shipwreck 100 years before. With a cast boasting the talents of Adrienne Barbeau, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Atkins, Janet Leigh, and Hal Holbrook, what's not to like?

With Halloween receiving a direct sequel from David Gordon Green in 2018 (with two more on the way), there's been talk of a similar approach to John Carpenter's other films, and while speaking with NME recently, Carpenter confirmed that could include The Fog.

There’s been talk of a sequel to The Fog. There’s been talk of sequels for a bunch of my movies. They just haven’t happened yet because of various reasons. But yeah, we’ve talked about them and I’m open to them.

I would absolutely be down for a sequel to The Fog, something brimming with atmosphere and slow-burn dread; even better if Jamie Lee Curtis, Adrienne Barbeau, or Tom Atkins were able to return in some form. No matter what, it would have to be better than that terrible 2005 remake, right? Speaking of belated sequels, Halloween Kills, the sequel to the David Gordon Green film, is slated to drop on October 15, 2021, and will be followed by Halloween Ends on October 14, 2022.

Would you like to see a sequel to The Fog?
