It may have been a long time coming, but it’s looking like The Flash will be well worth the wait. DC Studios head James Gunn has claimed that The Flash is “probably one of the greatest superhero movies ever made,” and it seems that the movie has another major fan — Tom Cruise.
According to THR, Tom Cruise had a meeting with Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav last month, and when Zaslav sang the praises of The Flash, Cruise asked if he could see it. A Warner Bros. employee brought The Flash over to Cruise’s home and stayed with the actor until he had finished watching it. Sources told THR that the actor enjoyed the movie so much that he called director Andy Muschietti to rave about his work, saying something along the lines of “[The Flash is] everything you want in a movie” and “this is the kind of movie we need now.” Oh, to be a global superstar and be able to just request to see one of the most talked about movies of the year in your own home months before its release.
“Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past,” reads the official synopsis of The Flash. “But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?“
The Flash will hit theaters on June 16th, but it will first debut at CinamaCon in Las Vegas next month. Our own Chris Bumbray will be in attendance, so you can look forward to his first reaction to The Flash right here on JoBlo.com.
