It was revealed earlier this month that Billy Crudup had dropped out of The Flash. The actor had been attached to play Henry Allen, the father of Barry Allen (Ezra Miller), for quite some time, but was forced to exit due to scheduling conflicts. Warner Bros. wasted little time filling the role as Variety as reported that Ron Livingston (Boardwalk Empire) has signed on to replace him. This is probably where I should make an attempt to make an Office Space joke, but it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care.
Variety has also reported that Ian Loh has joined the cast as young Barry Allen, with Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Rudy Mancuso signing on for undisclosed roles. The Flash is also set to star Maribel Verdú, best known for Y Tu Mama Tambien and Pan's Labyrinth, as Barry Allen's mother, who is said to be quite important to the plot of the film, which will reportedly find Flash traveling back in time to prevent her murder, a move that will have drastic consequences when he returns to his timeline. The film will also star Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and Michael Keaton as…Bruce Wayne/Batman, although the latter actor did recently cast doubt on his return.
Andy Muschietti is slated to direct The Flash based on a screenplay by Christina Hodson, and production is finally slated to kick off this spring for a November 4, 2022 release.
