Michael Keaton’s Batman could be getting a costume change for The Flash. According to the Twitter account @EpicFilmGuys, they’ve acquired the first image of Keaton’s new look for the upcoming film. To be clear, I’m uncertain if this image is legit. There’s something about that white background that I find suspicious. However, it’s still fun to theorize about these sorts of things. Take a look at the image posted below and judge for yourself.
It stands to reason that Bruce would have alterations to his suit throughout the years, so the new design doesn’t surprise me. It’s arguably a sleeker design than what we’re used to, with changes to the chest emblem, physique, gauntlets, Bat-crotch, and utility belt. The cowl looks about the same, although I think the new version’s ears are slightly curved. My favorite part is that it still evokes the ’89 Batman flavor, proving that the classics never die.
One thing I’m not sure of is the utility belt. While Keaton’s original belt did not look like it could hold much, the new one seems made of several bullet vibrators. I’m not here to kink shame Keaton’s Batman, though. I imagine things can get awful lonely in the Bat-Cave.
Last year, Keaton talked to The Hollywood Reporter about suiting up as Batman for The Flash, saying that he saw the opportunity to challenge himself as an actor.
“Frankly, in the back of my head, I always thought, ‘I bet I could go back and nail that motherfucker.’ And so I thought, ‘Well, now that they’re asking me, let me see if I can pull that off.'”
What do you think about Keaton’s new Batman suit? Remember, DC Entertainment has not confirmed this image, so please take it with a grain of salt. Sound off in the comments section below.
