The first test screening of Halloween Kills happens today

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

HALLOWEEN KILLS, the next entry in the long-running HALLOWEEN franchise, is scheduled to reach theatres on October 16th this year, but one lucky batch of viewers are going to get the chance to watch the movie tonight, just under nine months ahead of the release date.

The folks over at HalloweenDailyNews say they have confirmed that a test screening of HALLOWEEN KILLS will be taking place this evening, January 30th, somewhere in Los Angeles.

A test screening of the previous HALLOWEEN movie led to a new ending being filmed, so we'll have to wait and see if this test audience feels like something in HALLOWEEN KILLS should be reshot.

Directed by HALLOWEEN 2018's David Gordon Green from a screenplay he has written with Danny McBride and Scott Teems, HALLOWEEN KILLS doesn't have an official synopsis just yet, but star Jamie Lee Curtis (who reprises the role of Laurie Strode once again) has said that this one will

really unpack the first movie, bringing back all those characters whose lives were affected by what happened in 1978."

Curtis is joined in the cast by Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace, Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle, Nancy Stephens as Nurse Marion, Robert Longstreet as Lonnie Elam, and Charles Cyphers as Leigh Brackett. All of those are characters whose lives were affected by Michael Myers in '78. Returning from HALLOWEEN 2018 are Judy Greer as Laurie's daughter Karen, Andi Matichak as Laurie's granddaughter Allyson, Dylan Arnold as Allyson's boyfriend / Lonnie's son Cameron, and Jibrail Nantambu as scene stealer Julian. One new addition is child actress Victoria Paige Watkins as a character named Christy. Original Michael Myers performer Nick Castle is also in the cast, possibly making another masked cameo like he did in HALLOWEEN 2018, and Myers is primarily being played by James Jude Courtney again.

HALLOWEEN 2018 and HALLOWEEN KILLS are follow-ups to the original 1978 HALLOWEEN only, they do not acknowledge the events of the other sequels.

Once work is finished on HALLOWEEN KILLS, Green will be taking the helm of another sequel, HALLOWEEN ENDS. Written by Green, McBride, Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier, that one is set for an October 15, 2021 release.

Malek Akkad is producing these films with Jason Blum and Bill Block. Green, McBride, and Curtis serve as executive producers alongside John Carpenter and Couper Samuelson. Carpenter will also be composing the score.
