The first teaser for Netflix’s Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp

Netflix has revealed a teaser trailer of sorts that officially announces the prequel to David Wain‘s 2001 cult comedy hit WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER: FIRST DAY OF CAMP. It’s basically a rundown of the list of counselors confirmed for the limited 8-episode series coming to Netflix just in time for summer. Are you ready to go back to 1981?

You know all or most of the names I’m sure as well as the cabin if you have seen the film. It’s a fun little teaser which only makes it harder to wait for the real thing. Elizabeth Banks, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, Christopher Meloni, Marguerite Moreau, Zak Orth, Amy Poehler, David Hyde Pierce, Paul Rudd, Molly Shannon, and Michael Showalter are among some of the cast joining the series, which tells the story of the first day of Camp Firewood's famous summer season, now fourteen years after the film's debut.

For those of you comfortable with math, this is a prequel to the first film which took place on the last day of a fictional Jewish summer camp in 1981, and even though everyone was hilariously too old for their roles in 2001 they will be even more so now. The series is directed by David Wain and co-written by Wain and Michael Showalter. Shooting is already underway on the limited series so we will be sure to update you when an official release date arrives.
