The First Purge trailer mixes equal parts politics and violence

Years ago we were treated to the start of the PURGE movies, a series that depicts an America where all crime is legal one day out of the year. The twisted concept has resonated with fans who like a little politics with their gore, and with the new entry, THE FIRST PURGE, we will get a heavy dose of both. The first trailer is finally here, and in there are some extremely strong political undertones, with the story hinting the first Purge was utilized to specifically target certain groups of people. Let the guaranteed-to-be-respectful-and-open-minded conversations begin!

Here is the plot synopsis:

To push the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, the New Founding Fathers of America (NFFA) test a sociological theory that vents aggression for one night in one isolated community. But when the violence of oppressors meets the rage of the marginalized, the contagion will explode from the trial-city borders and spread across the nation.

There has always been an underlying theme in the PURGE movies about the marginalized and less affluent members of our society being the ones that are targeted on Purge nights, and this movie will probably play that up in the strongest way yet. That, and it should satisfy anyone looking for nothing but brutal kills and chaos. It has something for everyone! Bring the kids! Wait, on second thought…nah, bring the kids.
