The first teaser poster for The Revenant is stark, beautiful, and mysterious

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

After two stellar trailers and a handful of images, the first teaser poster for Alejandro Iñárritu's THE REVENANT is finally here. In keeping with the unique tone that the trailers set in motion, the teaser poster chooses a strikingly stark slice of the barren winter landscape occupied by two figures on a single horse. Neither the films star, Leonardo DiCaprio, nor its director Alejandro Iñárritu are mentioned anywhere on the poster.

Leonardo DiCaprio has previously said that THE REVENANT will be "one of the most unique film-going experiences that audiences have seen in modern times," and so far everything we've seen seems to support that claim. I'm actually starting to get to the point where I need to rein in my expectations before my hype for THE REVENANT inflates to unattainable levels.

THE REVENANT synopsis:

Inspired by true events, THE REVENANT captures one man's epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.

THE REVENANT will open in a limited release on December 25, 2015, followed by a wide release on January 8, 2016.
