Remember when 300 hit and we all thought that Gerard Butler was going to be the next massive action star, and then he did a bunch of Rom-Coms? Yeah, well it looks like he's going back to what he does best and we have the picture to prove it. While OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN wasn't exactly DIE HARD, it proved to be some solid, R-rated entertainment featuring one charismatic lead. The sequel will follow Butler's Mike Banning as he attempts to stop a plot to kill the world's most powerful leaders. As far as what happens to those who stand up to Butler, you can get a good idea of the results below!
Okay, it's not glamorous, but it's a nice reminder that this flick is still coming. I'm hoping the sequel has a little more fun with its premise and keeps that R-rating. I can't say that I'm familiar with director Babak Najafi's (EASY MONEY II: HARD TO KILL, SEBBE) work, but as long as he keeps the action in frame and doesn't TAKEN up the place, we should be good. Besides, we really need to round our the trilogy with an insane alien attack in EARTH HAS FALLEN.
LONDON HAS FALLEN will hit theaters on January 22, 2016.
