The first Killing Them Softly poster is a great retro teaser

KILLING THEM SOFTLY, previously known as COGAN’S TRADE, starring Brad Pitt has a new teaser poster and it is pretty cool.

We are so inundated with shitty, shitty posters these days that it is a breath of fresh air to see a nice, simple poster that does not need to Photoshop the main star’s head onto a stock image of a sexy body.

We have already seen some images and a clip from KILLING ME SOFTLY, but now that the film is competing for the Palm D’Or at Cannes we can expect to see more and more from the crime drama.

Plot: Jackie Cogan (Brad Pitt) is an enforcer, and when the mob’s rules get broken, Cogan is called in to take care of business. This time a high-stakes card game has been held up by an unknown gang of thugs. Calculating, ruthless, businesslike, and with a shrewd sense of other people’s weaknesses, Cogan plies his trade, moving among a variety of hoods, hangers-on, and big-timers, tracking those responsible, and returning “law and order” to the lawless Boston underworld.

I don’t think that Brad Pitt has made a bad movie in the past decade. In fact, he seems to be getting better with age. Between this and next year’s WORLD WAR Z, Pitt is firmly at the top of the list of my must see movies.

KILLING THEM SOFTLY open September 21, 2012.
