AMC's Preacher is one of the more hotly anticipated new genre shows this year. Adapted from the DC comic series of the same name, the show looks slick and badass, but now we have a chance to see it for ourselves. Ahead of its official premiere, the first four minutes of the show have been released online. This has become somewhat of a trend in the world of TV marketing, so it must be working. You can get your first taste of the show below, and let me just tell you: It certainly did not begin how I expected it to begin.
Preacher centers on
Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embark on a journey to, literally, find God.
Preacher's pilot was written by Sam Catlin, who also serves as showrunner. The show also stars Ian Colletti, Lucy Griffiths, W. Earl Brown, Elizabeth Perkins, Tom Brooke, Jamie Anne Allman, Derek Wilson, Ricky Mabe, and Jackie Earle Haley.
The beginning is nigh. AMC airs the first episode of Preacher this weekend, on Sunday, May 22 at 10pm.
