The final season of Lucifer will be divided into two parts

When LUCIFER returns to raise hell on Netflix for its fifth and final season, it will do so in two parts. During a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, LUCIFER star Tom Ellis told the pop star turned talk show host as much, revealing that Netflix plans to drop eight episodes before taking a break from all the supernatural drama.

“Season 5 of Lucifer is going to be split into two halves,” Ellis informed Clarkson during a set visit. “Netflix is going to drop eight episodes, and then there’s going to be a little break, and then they’re going to drop another eight episodes.”

LUCIFER centers around the show's devilishly clever leading man, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), a fallen angel who once ruled the depths of Hell before deciding to take a vacation in Los Angeles – The City of Angels. While continuing to party like the world is about to end, Lucifer teams with Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) to solve a grizzly murder. As the unlikely pair continue to find themselves drawn to one another by a seemingly benevolent force, Lucifer soon finds himself falling for the one woman in all of creation who is unaffected by his diabolical charms.

Lucifer Morningstar and his beloved Chloe are going to have one hell of a mess to clean up before the series can be put to rest. I don't want to get into spoilers here, but suffice it to say that the fourth (and arguably best) season of the show ended with both stars literally willing to go to Hell and back for one another. When the fifth season arrives, torturous decisions will have to be made, alongside many sacrafices, if Lucifer and Chloe are to strike a delicate balance between heaven and hell on earth.

Warner Bros. Television produces LUCIFER in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Aggressive Mediocrity. The series is loosely based on characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for Vertigo, courtesy of DC Entertainment. Serving as executive producers on LUCIFER are Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson. Len Wiseman also acts as an executive producer of the show, in addition to directing a number of episodes.
