The final Dune trailer promises a science-fiction epic for the ages

Warner Bros. decided to get spicy today by unleashing the final Dune trailer upon the masses. The new promo includes new looks at Denis Villeneuve’s latest science-fiction spectacle, and I’ll be damned if this movie doesn’t look incredible. There’s no denying that it’s got a style all its own, and if we don’t get a sequel, I’m going to flip tables.

“Oscar nominee Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049) directs Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ Dune, the big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s seminal bestseller of the same name,” reads the official synopsis. “A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.”

We’ve been lucky enough to have two of our star reviewers get spicy with the film over the past couple of weeks, including JimmyO and Chris Bumbray. Jimmy gave Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic a 10 out of 10, saying Dune is a modern masterclass in filmmaking.” Meanwhile, Bumbray gave the film a 9 out of 10, saying that if the movie does not get a sequel, “it’ll be one of the biggest tragedies in modern film.” That’s very high praise on both accounts, and you can bet I’ll be braving movie theaters for this one.

The film stars Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet (Call Me by Your Name, Little Women), Rebecca Ferguson (Doctor Sleep, Mission: Impossible – Fallout), Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina), Oscar nominee Josh Brolin (The Goonies, Avengers: Infinity War), Stellan Skarsgård (Chernobyl, Avengers: Age of Ultron), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1, Stuber), Stephen McKinley Henderson (Fences, Lady Bird), Zendaya (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Euphoria), David Dastmalchian (Blade Runner 2049, The Suicide Squad), Chang Chen (Mr. Long, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Sex Education), with Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling (45 Years, Assassin’s Creed), with Jason Momoa (Aquaman, See), and Oscar winner Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men, Skyfall).

The final Dune trailer has got me hyped, y’all! This movie has traveled a rough road toward its release, and this footage has inspired me to secure my tickets for the film’s opening weekend. Hell, I might even spring for D-Box seats. Are you familiar with D-Box technology? D-Box tech syncs your theater seat with the action happening on screen. As the movie plays, your chair rumbles and moves along to the film. Some movies are better with D-Box than others, but I have a feeling that Dune is the perfect film for that type of experience.

Dune hits theaters and HBO Max on October 22, 2021.
