According to Variety, David Lynch and his fabulous head of hair will be joining the cast of The Fabelmans, the latest film from Steven Spielberg.
Although David Lynch is obviously better know for his work behind the camera, he does take on the odd acting gig. He’s played FBI agent Gordon Cole in Twin Peaks, Gus the bartender in The Cleveland Show, and also appeared in Harry Dean Stanton’s Lucky. As for what role David Lynch will be taking on in the Steven Spielberg film, Variety says it remains a “closely guarded secret” for now. Of course, we all know Lynch for his work writing and directing films such as Eraserhead, The Elephant Man, Dune, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Mulholland Drive, and Inland Empire. He also co-created Twin Peaks with Mark Frost (which spawned a prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me) returned to direct all 18 episodes of the Twin Peaks revival series back in 2017.
The Fabelmans might just be Steven Spielberg’s most personal film to date as it’s been described as a semi-autobiographical project drawing from Spielberg’s time growing up in Arizona. The film stars Michelle Williams and Paul Dano as characters influenced by Spielberg’s own parents, with Seth Rogen playing a role based on Spielberg’s uncle, and newcomer Gabriel LaBelle playing a young aspiring filmmaker based on Spielberg himself. Julia Butters, Judd Hirsch, Sam Rechner, Oakes Fegley, Chloe East, Julia Butters, Jeannie Berlin, Robin Bartlett, Jonathan Hadary, and Isabelle Kusman will also appear in The Fabelmans. Steven Spielberg is currently in post-production on The Fabelmans which will be released by Universal Pictures on November 23, 2022.
