The Exorcist may find a new home on the small screen

It’s almost officially that time of year. No, I’m not talking about Christmas, you crazy hobos! Halloween! To start the excitement for the spooky and spectacular month which will have several of us beginning work on our horror lists, one film that should be included is THE EXORCIST. Not to mention that this year we will celebrate the 40th anniversary of William Friedkin‘s classic that continues to scare generation upon generation.

For those of you who have enjoyed horror film to small screen adaptations like BATES MOTEL may be interested in a series based on THE EXORCIST. Rights holders Morgan Creek are currently shopping around the idea to several networks. The series will be penned by Jeremy Slater who is also working on the next FANTASTIC FOUR flick. Apparently there is some interest from cable and broadcast networks. Roy Lee (THE DEPARTED, THE RING) will executive produce.

Last year, Sean Durkin (MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE) was on board to adapt the series but it seems that Slater’s fresh take on the story won the studio over.

Do you guys think that an EXORCIST series is worth doing? What do you think would be a great way to bring the story to the small screen?
