Last September, it was announced that Saban Films had acquired the rights to release The House at the End of Time director Alejandro Hidalgo‘s new film The Exorcism of God in the US, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, and South Africa. Now we know that Saban is planning to give The Exorcism of God a theatrical, VOD, and digital release on March 11th – and along with the release date information comes the unveiling of a trailer! You can check that out in the embed above.
Scripted by Santiago Fernández Calvete and Hidalgo, The Exorcism of God is set in an isolated town in Mexico and centers on
Father Peter Williams (Will Beinbrink), an American exorcist who becomes possessed by the Devil, subsequently committing a terrible sacrilege. 18 years later, the consequences of his sin come back to haunt him, unleashing a battle within.
Here’s an alternative synopsis:
Peter Williams, an American priest working in Mexico, is considered a saint by many local parishioners. However, due to a botched exorcism, he carries a dark secret that’s eating him alive until he gets an opportunity to face his own demon one final time.
Beinbrink (It: Chapter Two) is joined in the cast by María Gabriela de Faría (Deadly Class), Hector Kotsifakis (Narcos: Mexico), Iran Castillo (El Pantera), and Joseph Marcell (The Sandman).
Hidalgo produced the film with Joel Seidl of Epica Pictures, Inc. and financiers Karim Kabche and Antonio Abdo of Kabche Film Productions.
Saban Films’ Bill Bromiley has described The Exorcism of God as a “fascinating and frightening film”. I’m not generally a fan of exorcism movies, but the trailer for this one is somewhat intriguing and I’m willing to give it a chance. What did you think of the trailer?
