The following confession will probably get me ousted from most Schmoe social circles: I’ve never played a HALO game. Sure, I’ve admired the franchise and mythology from afar and kept my fingers crossed for a feature film. Yet never have I picked up the controller to explore the world of Master Chief firsthand. After watching the launch trailer for HALO 4, I’m starting to feel a lot of regret about that decision.
Titled “Scanned”, the trailer gives us a glimpse into the backstory of franchise protagonist Master Chief. Let me tell you something, guys– it’s a doozy. Produced by David Fincher and directed by Tim Miller (director of the upcoming DEADPOOL), the live action short film is scary, sad and packed with alien blasting action. If there’s a better case for a HALO feature film out there, I have yet to see it.
To say it’s better than just about any sci-fi film I’ve seen this year would not be an overstatement. Check the trailer out, along with the game’s synopsis, below. While you’re at it mark your calendar for the game’s November 6th drop date by pre-ordering the game today.
The Master Chief returns to battle an ancient evil bent on vengeance and annihilation. Shipwrecked on a mysterious world, faced with new enemies and deadly technology, the universe will never be the same.
