Sony has dished out a ton of release dates today, a few of them playing right into our hands.
The biggest news might be THE DARK TOWER. After waiting years for this film to see the light of day, the fact it has actually been given a release date is truly exciting. Sony has slated the first in several adaptations of Stephen King’s book series to come out on January 13, 2017. This joyful revelation comes only weeks after it was confirmed Nikolaj Arcel will be directing the first feature.
Meanwhile, Sony has some sequels it wants you to mark down on your calendars: UNDERWORLD 5 has been given a Halloween-friendly release date of October 21, 2016; Anna Foerster is helming. Paul W.S. Anderson’s RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER will come out January 27, 2017, a handful of weeks after THE DARK TOWER. Depending on how it does, we’ll probably get another “final chapter.”
Zombie feature PATIENT ZERO, starring Stanley Tucci and Natalie Dormer, hits theaters on September 2, 2016.
And, if you’re interested, the GHOSTBUSTERS reboot you’re so pumped about has been moved up a little, to July 15, 2016, a week earlier than originally intended.
