There's a trailer for director Nikolaj Arcel's adaptation of / sequel to Stephen King's epic THE DARK TOWER saga coming our way tomorrow, a fact which the Columbia Pictures marketing department tipped us off to while dropping a trio of DARK TOWER motion posters online.
Those motion posters can be seen below and feature Idris Elba as heroic gunslinger Roland Deschain ("The Gunslinger is here to protect his world, will he be able to protect ours?"), Matthew McConaughey as Roland's nemesis The Man in Black ("The Man in Black means business, he's here to take over."), and Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers, a young boy who has "The Shine".
Scripted by Arcel, Anders Thomas Jensen, Akiva Goldsman, and Jeff Pinkner, THE DARK TOWER tells the story of
Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as The Dark Tower. Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum. It is the heart of all worlds, but it is also under threat. Someone, or something, is using the evil technology of the Great Old Ones to destroy it.
Other cast members include Fran Kranz as the Man in Black's right hand man Pimli; Jackie Earle Haley as vampire leader Sayre; Katheryn Winnick in a mystery role; Abbey Lee as Tirana, who was a minor villain in the final book of King's series; and Claudia Kim as Arra Champignon, who was the ill-fated wife of a gunslinger in the DARK TOWER comic books. This version of the character "possesses psychic abilities and seems to come from another world".
THE DARK TOWER is scheduled to reach theatres on August 4th. Check back in with us tomorrow to see the film's trailer.
