The Crow

A new adaptation of James O'Barr's graphic novel THE CROW has been in development for a long, long time. Directors have come and gone, actors have been attached to play the lead character Eric Draven and then dropped out of the project, the process was bogged down by its studio going through bankruptcy.

As the studio, Relativity, emerges from bankruptcy, THE CROW is a top priority. It's a high profile property that, if done right and received well, could help them build back up. THE CROW is so important them, in fact, that it looks like they're finally ready to get this thing into production – multiple sources have confirmed to The Wrap that THE CROW will begin filming in January.

THE HALLOW director Corin Hardy will be at the helm of THE CROW when camera starts rolling. He has been attached to this project for quite a while, having been recommended for the job by Edgar Wright.

Mark Wahlberg, Bradley Cooper, Tom Hiddleston, Alexander Skarsgard, Luke Evans, and Jack Huston were all in the running to play Draven over the years, with some of them having been signed on for the role at different points, but it looks like the actor who's going to see this through and bring his own iteration of the character, famously played by Brandon Lee in the 1994 THE CROW (and more obscurely by Mark Dacascos on the one season TV series The Crow: Stairway to Heaven), will be Jason Momoa.

This adaptation is said to be sticking close to the source material, which follows

Eric Draven, a murder victim who returns from the dead, seeking vengeance on those who murdered him and his fiancée with the help of a mystical bird.

I'd rather see new stories set in the Crow universe than a re-do of the Draven story, but I'm willing to give Hardy and Momoa a chance.
