Not quite up to the original, but what did you think of the 2010 remake of Romero’s THE CRAZIES?
Depending on your answer, either blame or praise can be bestowed on Ray Wright, who co-wrote the screenplay for the redo. Anyway, Wright will now focus his attention on THE WIDOW, a spec script he just sold to Vendome Films, which will also finance as well as produce. The psychological thriller is now being fetched to various writers and stars for a desired 2013 production.
According to THR, the psychological thriller centers on a young woman who befriends a lonely widow only to discover that their encounter was not a coincidence.
About the project, Vendome’s Philippe Rousselet said this:
“The Widow is one of those rare pieces that is as interesting and different as it is commercial…Ray’s script, which is so nuanced and surprising both in terms of plot and character, is certain to garner attention from some of the smartest and most dynamic filmmakers and talent. We look forward to putting it together over the coming months.”
Sounds good enough for me, even if I can’t resist thoughts of BLACK WIDOW meeting SINGLE WHITE FEMALE, with a little HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE thrown in. Hell, I like those flicks for a good laugh if nothing else so, bring on damn THE WIDOW!
Now there’s a black widow!!!
