After retiring her lightsaber for projects not set in a galaxy far, far away, Daisy Ridley is entering a deal with Miramax TV for The Christie Affair. In addition to taking on the lead role, Ridley will executive produce the series adaptation of Nina de Gramont’s best-selling novel. Juliette Towhidi (Testament of Youth, Calendar GirlsThe Essex Serpent) is in charge of penning the script.

Via Amazon, here is a description of de Gramont’s novel:

In 1925, Miss Nan O’Dea infiltrated the wealthy, rarefied world of author Agatha Christie and her husband, Archie. In every way, she became a part of their life––first, both Christies. Then, just Archie. Soon, Nan became Archie’s mistress, luring him away from his devoted wife, desperate to marry him. Nan’s plot didn’t begin the day she met Archie and Agatha.

It began decades before, in Ireland, when Nan was a young girl. She and the man she loved were a star-crossed couple destined to be together––until the Great War, a pandemic, and shameful secrets tore them apart. Then acts of unspeakable cruelty kept them separated.

What drives someone to murder? What will someone do in the name of love? What kind of crime can someone never forgive? Nina de Gramont’s brilliant, unforgettable novel explores these questions and more.

“We couldn’t be more grateful to be joined by Daisy on this incredible project – as both the star as well as our producing partner,” says Marc Helwig, Head of Worldwide Television, Miramax TV. “Daisy is one of the most captivating and talented actors working today, and we’re excited for her to bring Nina de Gramont’s fascinating ‘Nan O’Dea’ to life.”

Famous for playing Rey in the Star Wars franchise, Ridley is an actor who isn’t afraid to mix it up with different mediums. In addition to starring in Chaos WalkingMurder on the Orient Express, and Judd Apatow’s The Bubble, Ridley stars in the Zoetrope podcast series and The Dawn of Art and Twelve Minutes video games. Pulling double-duty for The Christie Affair series won’t be a problem for Ridley.
