After Wonder Woman's first standalone adventure found the Amazon warrior taking part in the first World War, the upcoming sequel will jump forward to the era of shoulder pads and big hair – the 1980s. What we're seen from WONDER WOMAN 1984 so far has certainly embraced the style of the decade, and a new photo finds Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Pedro Pascal, Kristen Wiig, and director Patty Jenkins paying tribute to one of the most iconic '80s movies of all-time – John Hughes' THE BREAKFAST CLUB.
The photo reportedly originated from Pedro Pascal's Instagram account before it was deleted, but as the Internet never forgets, the image is thankfully still alive for us to enjoy. In addition to Gal Gadot returning to reprise the role of Wonder Woman, the sequel will also feature the surprising return of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, which is a little confusing given his fate during the first film as well as the time-jump in the sequel. Kristen Wiig is also set to star as Barbara Ann Minerva aka Cheetah, a British anthropologist who found herself cursed with the powers of a cheetah and became obsessed with learning the secrets of the Amazons. The nature of Pedro Pascal's character is being kept under wraps at the moment.
WONDER WOMAN 1984 is set for a November 1, 2019 release.
