For those of you who had a chance to check out The Making of Frozen last night on ABC, you no doubt saw the announcement that Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad would reprise their roles from FROZEN in a new short, Frozen Fever. This animated short which focuses on a birthday party thrown for Anna by Elsa and Kristoff will also feature a new song from the Academy award-winning FROZEN songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.

With FROZEN bringing in over $1 billion worldwide, Disney has been quick to work the film and its characters into its theme parks, books and Broadway. A little too quick, I’d wager to say, as I feel over-saturation is probably the film’s worst enemy at this point. What’s next? FROZEN cereal? FROZEN yogurt?!? That’s a free one, Disney. You’re welcome. I digress, though. As much as I enjoyed the film, there just comes a time when you don’t want it shoved down your throat anymore. Still, with the original songwriters and cast on board for Frozen Fever, I’ll be interested to see in what capacity this short will appear (TV, Disney film, etc.) and if it actually has something to say. I wouldn’t be surprised if a sequel is somewhat gauged on its success.
Frozen Fever will arrive sometime in 2015.
