As MGM gets their shit together some of their major films are getting thrown in the back burner. Comingsoon has just reported that the remake RED DAWN and THE CABIN IN THE WOODS has been pushed back…indefinitely.
How many times has this happened to these projects? Honestly. CABIN IN THE WOODS is actually one of the many films to look forward to in 2011. It’s been toyed around for forever until the idea actually became reality when Goddard and Joss Whedon took over the script. Since then the release date has been changed more times than I’d like to count. CABIN IN THE WOODS is stuck in Post-production hell and we’ll just have to wait until it finds a way out…someday.
What gets me is that MGM is having a difficult time trying to get projects up and running on their own two when this happens. The films will receive a To Be Announcedstatus until further notice.
“The Cabin in the Woods” storyline provides a new twist on a classic scenario — in this case the young-people-stranded-in-the-woods horror trope. Jenkins and Whitford will play white-collar co-workers with a mysterious connection to the cabin.
The film stars Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams, Brian White It’s being directed by Drew Goddard. You guys feeling the pains of waiting or are you having of MGM’s bullshite?
