The Burning soundtrack hits vinyl thanks to One Way Static

Who would have ever thought that classic retro film scores would be coming back in such a big way? The newest addition to the growing collection of resurrected horror music is the original soundtrack to the 1981 slasher THE BURNING, composed by Rick Wakeman. Coming September 30th, the album will be available on both vinyl and cassette for retro film music geeks everywhere.

Wakeman was a member of the prog rock band Yes before he scored numerous films, including CREEPSHOW 2 and CRIMES OF PASSION. He also played on David Bowie's "Space Oddity." Listen to a snippet from his iconic keyboard score for THE BURNING below!

The first production by Harvey and Bob Weinstein, Tony Waylam's THE BURNING:

is loosely based on the NY urban legend of Cropsey, a tale that became popular at summer camps in the 1960s and '70s. In the film, a summer camp caretaker who was horribly disfigured from a prank gone wrong is released from the hospital with severe deformities and seeks revenge on those he holds responsible, starting with the kids at a nearby summer camp.

You can pre-order the album in North America HERE and in Europe HERE.
