The Bubble: Karen Gillan, Pedro Pascal, and more join Judd Apatow comedy

Major casting news for Judd Apatow's The Bubble has popped online. After floating over to Netflix, the comedy has added Karen Gillian (Doctor Who, Jumani: The Next Level), Iris Apatow (This is 40), Fred Armisen (Portlandia), Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm), David Duchovny (X-Files, The Craft: Legacy), Keegan-Michael Key (Keanu, Playing with Fire), Leslie Mann (Funny People, Knocked Up), Pedro Pascal (Wonder Woman 1984, The Mandalorian), and Peter Serafinowicz (Shaun of the Dead, The Tick) to its ensemble cast. Apatow will direct and produce the project and co-write the script with Pam Brady.

The concept is obviously very timely, seeing as we're still in the midst of a global pandemic when many Hollywood productions continue to jump through hoops just to remain on track.

Word has it that once the project was acquired by Netflix, it was fast-tracked, with plans to shoot early this year. Apatow is notorious for capturing comedic chemistry on film among large groups of people, and the filmmaker has assembled one hell of a cast with The Bubble. Barry Mendel will executive produce the film, with Pam Brady joining that effort as well.
