The Brothers Sun: Michelle Yeoh knows best in action-packed teaser for Netflix series

We love Michelle Yeoh. From Police Story 3 to Everything Everywhere All At Once, she can really do it all. Netflix has released a teaser trailer for The Brothers Sun, a new action-packed family crime drama which stars Michelle Yeoh as the matriarch of a family who has left the world of Taiwan’s gangsters and crime behind.

“When the head of a powerful Taiwanese triad is shot by a mysterious assassin, his eldest son, legendary killer Charles ‘Chairleg’ Sun (Justin Chien) heads to Los Angeles to protect his mother, Eileen (Michelle Yeoh), and his naive younger brother, Bruce (Sam Song Li) — who’s been completely sheltered from the truth of his family until now,” reads the official synopsis. “But as Taipei’s deadliest societies and a new rising faction go head-to-head for dominance — Charles, Bruce and their mother must heal the wounds caused by their separation and figure out what brotherhood and family truly mean before one of their countless enemies kills them all.“

The Brothers Sun was created by Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu, who also executive produce the series alongside Mikkel Bondesen and Kevin Tancharoen. The eight-episode series will debut on Netflix on January 4, 2024.

Michelle Yeoh is in more demand than ever thanks to winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for her exemplary work on Everything Everywhere All At Once, so she naturally has plenty of projects on her slate. One of those projects will see her return to the Star Trek franchise for the Section 31 movie. “I’m beyond thrilled to return to my Star Trek family and to the role I’ve loved for so long,” Yeoh said. “Section 31 has been near and dear to my heart since I began the journey of playing Philippa all the way back when this new golden age of Star Trek launched.
