It was recently revealed that THE BOYS is Amazon's most watched series to date, and with a second season already in the works, it should come as no surprise that the team behind the streamer's violent and offensive superhero series is eager to share some behind-the-scenes pics from the upcoming season.
Over the weekend, THE BOYS showrunner Eric Kripke (SUPERNATURAL) shared a bloody good pic from the set of THE BOYS. In the photo, Kripke can be found standing alongside cast members Tomer Capon (Frenchie), Karen Fukuhara (The Female), Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell), and Laz Alonso (Mother's Milk) (left to right). As you can see from the photo posted below, Fukuhara, Quaid, and Alonso are drenched in blood, giving us a clear indication that Billy Butcher's (Karl Urban) team is still up to no good during the events of the second season.

While talking about the success of THE BOYS, Amazon Studios CEO Jennifer Salke said in a statement: "We are thrilled that The Boys has surpassed our predictions for viewing in its first two weeks, and has become one of our most watched Amazon Original series by our Prime Video customers. This creates great momentum and excitement for us as we get ready for season two."
Then, while echoing Salke's excitement for the show's outstanding performance, Kripke said: "I'm so beyond thrilled with the response to Season 1. And mainly, it’s made me get my ass in gear and work even harder on Season 2. I don’t want Season 2 to go bigger, I want it to go deeper. A more intense, more insane, more wrenching, more character-driven season. It’s my one and only goal to make Season 2 even better than Season 1."
Having recently watched the first five episodes of THE BOYS, I can certainly understand why Amazon would want to continue the series. Regardless of it being a show about superheroes, THE BOYS takes a different approach to a genre that some would say has already been done to death. In the show, heroes have become corrupted by their own celebrity, and as a result, have transformed into peddlers of products for major corporations. In time, their status as the saviors of tomorrow has lent to them becoming the worst of the worst. Therefore, it's up to The Boys to keep them in line, and they'll do so by any means necessary. It's a wild premise that works all too well when coupled with Amazon's NC-17-like rating for the show. It's a program that's chock full of violence, nudity, and more blood than all the Marvel or DC films put together. It's not for the faint of heart, but those who want to see the superhero genre turned on its head will likely delight in all os THE BOYS' over-the-top antics.
THE BOYS is streaming on Amazon Prime right now.
