The Boys Season 3 trailer: Soldier Boy reports for duty in new, blood-soaked footage

The Boys are back in town with a full-length trailer for the third season of Prime Video‘s mature-rated superhero satire. In The Boys Season 3 trailer, we discover that something is wrong with Homelander (Antony Starr). The show’s Superman stand-in appears to be losing control, and no one wants to be on the receiving end of his mighty wrath. Homelander yearns to show his adoring fans the “real me,” but what does that mean when you’re an unhinged god-like figure coming apart at the seams?

With Homelander off his rocker, it will take a powerful hero to bring him down. Enter Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), a crooked Captain America-like character who led a team of superheroes called Payback during the era of World War II. When Butcher and the rest of the Boys enlist Soldier Boy’s help, they quickly discover that he has untold abilities that leave a wake of devastation everywhere he goes.

Elsewhere, we see Hughie (Jack Quaid) working with Congresswoman Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) in the Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs, where he’s more or less in charge of Butcher’s actions. Meanwhile, Butcher has been trying to get his life back on track. However, when push comes to shove, Billy must become the thing he hates most to help save the day.

The Boys Season 3 trailer has plenty of blood, guts, and surprises for fans, plus a lot more for the uninitiated. I highly recommend catching up with the previous seasons before diving into the new episodes. There’s a lot of connective tissue being explored during the events to come, and you’ll want to have all the context.

On The Boys, a present-day world is imagined where superheroes, controlled by the unscrupulous Vought corporation, purport to stand for “truth and justice” while secretly committing heinous acts. During season two, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon), and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) were on the run from the law hunted by the Supes and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. The Supes of The Seven also includes Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford), and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell) while Karl Urban plays Butcher.

The Boys season 3, premiering its first three episodes on June 3 before moving to a weekly series, is about to unleash hell. Make sure you bring an umbrella for all the bits and pieces.
