The Boys, season 3, Jensen Ackles, Soldier Boy

Supernatural star Jensen Ackles is getting ready to trade Dean Winchester's endless supply of flannel for stars and stripes when he plays Soldier Boy in Season 3 of The Boys. The Boys showrunner and writer Eric Kripke recently posted a photo of Ackles on Twitter, which shows off the character's rugged new look. Would you look at that hair and beard? Ackles looks like a disgruntled mountain man, and I love it.

Soldier Boy's origin takes us back to 1944, the year Dr. Vought injected him with the Compound V serum. As a World War II veteran, Solider Boy was the perfect candidate to act as an example of the type of heroes Compound V could produce. He went on to kill countless German soldiers and even worked alongside Lady Liberty (Stormfront) for a time. Sometime later, Soldier Boy became the first celebrity superhero represented by Vought International.

You can check out Kripke's photo of Ackles as Soldier Boy below:

Last year, Kripke had this to say about a long-term goal he'll finally be able to complete thanks to The Boys:

“When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream — to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment. I’m happy to say that dream has come true…Jensen is an amazing actor, and even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother. As Soldier Boy, the very first Superhero, he’ll bring so much humor, pathos, and danger to the role. I can’t wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of Supernatural to The Boys.”

Season 3 of The Boys has no premiere date at this time, though filming is currently underway. When the show returns, fans can expect Kripke and company to push the boundaries of what the series has done so far. And yes, we're all waiting to see if Soldier Boy's infamous "herogasm" scene will be included in the show. I'm betting that it is, and it will be glorious.
