Amazon’s The Boys has been a big sensation for the streaming service. With characters like Homelander making headlines for intentional and unintentional reasons, the superhero satire is a swift kick in the butt for a normally vanilla genre of content. The streaming giant is keeping plot details for the next season under wraps. However, they’ve recently released a sneak peek that should whet your whistle.
Entertainment Weekly has unveiled Amazon’s tease of season 4’s new characters. The girls who will be added to The Boys will be Susan Heyward, from OWN’s Delilah, who will be playing a supe named Sister Sage, and Valerie Curry, from Peacock’s The Lost Symbol, who will be strapping up boots as Firecracker. Amazon is not yet revealing much about the roles these characters will play in the show as they seem to currently be playing this close to the chest.
There is much that can be deciphered from their costumes, though. Sister Sage’s attire sports a Louis Vuitton-like pattern with an eye symbol. This, paired with Amazon’s cryptic description in a tweet saying she’s “already a thousand steps ahead of you,” could mean she’s clairvoyant.
Firecracker’s suit seems to sport a militaristic theme and gives the vibe of Cammy from the Street Fighter games. She’s got a hint of camo pattern along with a belt buckle sporting guns. Perhaps related to Sean Patrick Flanery’s former member of Payback?
Eric Kripke, the showrunner for the series, has built hype with the tweet, “These new Supes are some of the best & craziest ever written for #TheBoys. You are going to love them. And by love, I mean be absolutely horrified & a tiny bit nauseous.” Kripke also tells EW, “I don’t think the game’s over yet,” when referring to Homelander’s son, Ryan. “I think [Ryan] saw this one thing, and I think we should all be afraid because if he becomes another Homelander, that’s obviously really bad for the planet. But he’s still Becca’s kid, and there’s still a shot that Butcher can pull him into the light.”
The Boys season 4 is slated to release sometime in 2023.
