On the next Arrested Development, one of television's most dysfunctional families, The Bluths, will reunite for an all-new season of absurdist comedy and cringe-worthy life choices. After a five-year absence, Netflix has released a trailer for the long-running program's fifth season, which finds every member returning for more self-indulgent hi-jinks. That's right, even Jeffrey Tambor, who in recent times was accused of sexually harassing a TRANSPARENT guest star and a former assistant, will be there to help make Michael's (Jason Bateman) life miserable. To clarify, Tambor's contribution to the new season had been filmed back in November of 2017, just before allegations about his behavior had surfaced.
In the aftermath of Cinco de Quatro, the Bluth family are all facing one question, that no one quite has the answer to; where is Lucille Two? Furthermore, after assembling the family unit, once again, it's announced that they're finally receiving an award they think they deserve – for Family of the Year. The new development is quickly seen as an opportunity to help Lindsay as she begins her campaign for Congress, to become ‘part of the problem’. But whatever happens, Michael will always come back to save the family. Probably.
While you're waiting for the premiere of the new season, why not check out the re-edited version of Season 4 from Mitch Hurwitz, which presents the events in chronological order? Or, if you're feeling bold, you could bust out your old box sets and watch the show from its inception. Either way, I'm not sure that anything can help prepare the masses for Lindsay Bluth Funke's foray into the political arena. Let us pray.
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT starring Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Alia Shawkat, David Cross, Tony Hale, Jessica Walter, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Jeffrey Tambor, and the voice of Ron Howard is set to return on May 29th via Netflix.
