Bryan Singer‘s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE has been shaping up to the biggest X-Men flick yet, and now that term wont just be figurative! Instagram user Benjamin Malartre Bureau recently had the good fortune of visiting the APOCALYPSE set in Montreal and reported seeing a few mutants that we’ve heard about, but also one that most are probably trying to forget; the Blob. A mutant originally depicted as an obese circus freak, the Blob possesses an extreme amount of pliable body mass, which grants him superhuman strength. At least, that’s the iteration we’ve seen in X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE. According to Benjamin’s replies, he’ll be portrayed in APOCALYPSE by a 540 lb French Canadian dude, or as Ben puts it, “one solid big fat guy!” I like a person who doesn’t mince words!
I’m looking forward to Bryan Singer‘s iteration of the Blob if only to shake every last memory of ORIGINS out of my head. Given that this is the first we’ve heard of him, and there have been no pictures to speak of, I can’t imagine the character taking up a huge role (so to speak). Still, APOCALYPSE has set the bar high for the number of mutants involved. Here’s hoping that some of ’em get some great character moments in between the action!
X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
