Blair Witch Project’s Eduardo Sanchez aims to make Bigfoot scary again with Exists

Eduardo Sanchez won’t likely ever top the unprecedented success of his 1999 debut, THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, but that’s not to say that he’s a one hit wonder. His more recent works, ALTERED and SEVENTH MOON, were solid flicks, which is why I’m excited to report that he’s heading back to the woods to face a different monster.

Sanchez will helm EXISTS for Haxan Films and Amber Entertainment. He wrote the script with his SEVENTH MOON co-scribe Jamie Nash. The film follows a group of twenty-somethings who take a trip to a cabin in the wooded wilderness and are methodically hunted by a Bigfoot-like beast.

Weta Workshop (KING KONG) and Spectral Motion (BATTLE LOS ANGELES) are collaborating on the design and build of the monster, which will be portrayed by Brian Steel (HELLBOY, PREDATORS). Robin Crowie, Gregg Hale and Andy Jenkins of Haxan and Jene Fleming and Mark Ordesky of Amber are producing.

Sanchez had this to say: “The film is the first in a trilogy exporing and reinventing the Bigfoot myth. We all remember the terror of watching such classics as THE LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK, and I look forward to making Bigfoot scary again.”

Casting wil begin in August with a focus on unknowns. Filming is scheduled to start in October outside Austin, Texas at Spiderwood Studios.
