There's nothing like waking up on a Friday morning to find a visually stunning BLADE RUNNER 2049 teaser trailer in your cup. This afternoon, Warner Bros.and Alcon Entertainment unleashed a teaser for the next BLADE RUNNER 2049 trailer which is slated for a Monday release. Directed by ARRIVAL and SICARIO's Denis Villeneuve, the sequel to Ridley Scott's 1980s sci-fi classic takes us to 30 years after the explosive events of the first film. In the new movie, Ryan Gosling stars as Officer K, a new blade runner for the Los Angeles Police Department, who unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. His discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former blade runner who's been missing for 30 years.

As someone who is only vaguely familiar with the first BLADE RUNNER film (I admit to only having seen it twice, several years ago), I must say the first thing that struck me about this teaser was how overtly beautiful it is. For this sequel, Villeneuve has once again collaborated with cinematographer Roger Deakins, whose work on this film reminds me of John Seale's efforts for George Miller's MAD MAX: FURY ROAD.
The teaser, by definition, is rather brief, though it does provide us with a tantalizing glimpse of what's to be expected when the film opens in theaters on October 6th, 2017. I could decribe the footage to you, but you really should just watch it for yourself … over and over again until the full trailer is released. BLADE RUNNER 2049 stars Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Barkhad Abdi, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Lennie James, Mackenzie Davis, and Jared Leto.
