Video! This week’s Black Sheep stands up for the horror comedy Dead Heat!

My love for '80s horror/action runs deep. These were the films I grew up renting on VHS at my local Family Video and were instrumental for turning me into the movie buff I am today. I'll admit that I passed over DEAD HEAT (WATCH IT HEREOWN IT HERE), when I was younger because of the cringy box-art cover. I know how childish that sounds, but after many years I finally sat down and gave it a watch on Joe Bob Brigg's The Last Drive-In.

If the chance ever comes to go back in time to slap my younger self, I will because DEAD HEAT was an absolute blast! A melting pot of everything '80s, we get the action of LETHAL WEAPON, the comedy of BEVERLY HILL COP, and the effects/gore straight out of the Romero era of Zombies.

DEAD HEAT has the following synopsis:

A cop and his undead partner must chase down the diabolical villain who killed him.

The IMDB/Rotten Tomatoes scores show me that after thirty-one years, DEAD HEAT hasn't gained a big enough cult following and still sits in obscurity waiting for redemption. In our latest BLACK SHEEP episode, we give some love and appreciation for this late '80s gem and hope you too can find some appreciation for this goofy genre blend that's one hell of a great time.

Does DEAD HEAT deserve to be labeled as THE BLACK SHEEP? You decide!
