The character The Grabber, played by Ethan Hawke in director Scott Derrickson’s adaptation of the Joe Hill story The Black Phone (watch it HERE) is definitely not someone that anybody should emulate… but he did wear a very cool mask, which was designed by legendary special effects artist Tom Savini. So a lot of genre fans are probably going to want to buy the replica mask that is now being sold by Trick or Treat Studios. The mask is available for pre-order at THIS LINK, and is going for the price of $59.99. Masks are expected to start shipping out on September 13th.

The Black Phone went over very well with us here at JoBlo and Arrow in the Head; both of the reviews we have gave it a 9/10. You can read one at THIS LINK and the other HERE.

If you’d like to read the short story that The Black Phone is based on, it can be found in Hill’s collection 20th Century Ghosts, which you can buy HERE. The movie stars Mason Thames as Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, who is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.

Jeremy Davies plays Finney’s father, Madeleine McGraw is Finney’s sister, and James Ransone is in there as a character named Max.

Derrickson wrote the screenplay adaptation with his Sinister and Doctor Strange co-writer C. Robert Cargill. Derrickson and Cargill also produced The Black Phone with Blumhouse’s Jason Blum. Hill serves as executive producer.
