*Minor Spoilers for Game of Thrones’ “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” Episode*
Anyone who tuned into last night’s new episode of GAME OF THRONES knows what to expect next week – and boy is it everyone’s hearts going to be broken again and again. The episode did more “table setting” for the massive Battle of Winterfell this Sunday and come the end of it HBO released the first look at the incredible battle that will be the longest continuous battle scene ever filmed. There will be zombie soldiers, countless beloved characters fighting for their lives, character drama and dragons. Now get a taste of that crammed into 30 seconds.
What we’ve seen teased in past trailers will all be put on the screen this Sunday, so in a way, we’ve been preparing for this very episode for some time. It looks like our characters will have plenty to go through in way of fighting off the undead army, but thanks to last night’s episode we have much more to unpack about where the characters are at mentally and emotionally – and oh yes, there’s a lot to unpack.
If you haven’t watched the episode, turn back.

Last night’s episode threw a lot at audiences, mainly because this would likely be the last night we ever spent with some of these characters, many of whom have been here since season two, or at least three. That meant a HUGE relationship leap for Arya (Maisie Williams) and Gendry (Joe Dempsie); the reuniting of Theon (Alfie Allen) and Sansa (Sophie Turner), the former vouching to fight for Winterfell; Samwell (John Bradley) giving his family sword, Heartsbane, over to Jorah (Iain Glen); in the most emotional moment of the night, Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) being knighted by Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and; in the moment that will surely have the biggest angle to play out, Jon (Kit Harington) telling Dany (Emilia Clarke) his real heritage, which basically meant telling her he's her nephew. That part she cares less about than him now having a claim to her throne, so that was a way to take in the news.
Most of this means as a way to set up what will be an episode filled with at least a few deaths at the hands of the Night King and his army. What we can expect is an equal amount of tears to match the bloodshed, and but there's also a lot of plotting that needs to come out of it. Night King has business with Bran and something needs to happen between Jon and Dany, with many predicting a potential conflict, which I also see happening. All we can do is wait for Sunday, and I guess in the meantime we can watch AVENGERS: ENDGAME.
GAME OF THRONES returns Sunday, and be sure to read our review of the second episode here.
