It’s time for the mid-week episode of The Arrow in the Head Show, and in this one hosts John “The Arrow” Fallon and Lance Vlcek are taking a look at a couple of trailers that were recently released, both of them for new entries in very popular horror franchises. Those are the trailers for Evil Dead Rise and Scream 6, and you can find out what The Arrow and Lance thought of them by watching the video embedded above!
Sam Raimi handpicked Lee Cronin to write and direct a new Evil Dead movie after seeing his feature directorial debut The Hole in the Ground. The story Cronin crafted for Evil Dead Rise has the following synopsis: A road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.
Although the film is set in Los Angeles, filming actually took place in New Zealand. Lily Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland star as the estranged sisters at the heart of the story. Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, and Nell Fisher play Ellie’s three kids. Mia Challis is playing Jessica, “an 18 year old girl, who is obsessed with fashion and Instagram. Jessica loves to be the center of attention, although she is smarter than she lets on”.
Evil Dead Rise is set to reach theatres on April 21st.
Although set in New York City, Scream 6 was actually filmed in Montreal. Directed by Scream 2022 directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a screenplay by Scream 2022 writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, this one will show us what happens when the four survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.
Those four survivors are the Scream 2022 characters played by returning stars Melissa Barrera (as Samantha Carpenter), Jenna Ortega (as Samantha’s sister Tara Carpenter), Jasmin Savoy Brown (as Mindy Meeks-Martin), and Mason Gooding (as Mindy’s brother Chad Meeks-Martin). Courteney Cox is reprising the role of Gale Weathers. Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra, Samara Weaving, Tony Revolori, Dermot Mulroney, and Henry Czerny have also been cast in unspecified roles. And Scream 4‘s Hayden Panettiere is back as Kirby Reed. Neve Campbell was asked to reprise the role of franchise heroine Sidney Prescott in Scream 6, but passed on it due to a pay dispute.
Scream 6 is scheduled for a March 10th theatrical release.
Here’s some information on The Arrow in the Head Show: We’re trying something a bit new here on Arrow In The Head. After many years behind the scenes, we’ve decided to take our sarcastic, booze-influenced style into the video age with The Arrow In The Head Show! Hosted by John Fallon aka The Arrow and Lance Vlcek, we will dig into not only the newest horror flicks hitting the big and small screens but also delve into the good, bad, and ugly of horror from the golden ages of the ’80s through the underrated 90s and maybe a bit beyond.
Something groovy and a tad rough around the edges, we are here to talk shop with a drink in hand, a bit of foul language, and a whole lot of heart.
