The animated film The Addams Family 2 was given a theatrical and premium online rental release back in October, and if you’ve been wondering when you’ll be able to add a physical media copy to your Addams Family collection, we have some good news to share today (with thanks to our friends at Bloody Disgusting): Universal Pictures Home Entertainment is giving The Addams Family 2 a DVD and Blu-ray release on January 18, 2022.
Scripted by Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, The Addams Family 2 was directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon, who also directed the previous film (which can be viewed at THIS LINK). This sequel has the following synopsis:
Everyone’s favorite spooky family is back in the animated comedy sequel, The Addams Family 2. In this all-new movie, we find Morticia and Gomez distraught that their children are growing up, skipping family dinners, and totally consumed with “scream time.” To reclaim their bond they decide to cram Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester, and the crew into their haunted camper and hit the road for one last miserable family vacation. Their adventure across America takes them out of their element and into hilarious run-ins with their iconic cousin, It, as well as many new kooky characters. What could possibly go wrong?
The voice cast for this iteration of the Addams family includes Oscar Isaac as Gomez, Charlize Theron as Morticia, Chloë Grace Moretz as Wednesday, Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester, Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton as Pugsley (replacing Finn Wolfhard, who was 2019’s Pugsley), Bette Midler as Grandmama, and Snoop Dogg as It, with Wallace Shawn and Bill Hader as new characters.
Bonus features exclusive to the DVD and Blu-ray release include:
We’re Altogether Addams: Meet the people behind the voices.
Courage to be Kooky: See why it’s okay to be different (even kooky) with a little help from the cast of THE ADDAMS FAMILY 2.
THE ADDAMS FAMILY Road Trip Checklist: In this “How To” vignette, we’ll show you everything you need for a successful road trip with the family. From essentials to games, we’ve got you covered.
I haven’t seen The Addams Family 2 or the previous animated movie yet, but I will definitely be checking them out at some point just because they’re Addams projects. Our own Gaius Bolling wasn’t impressed with this sequel; you can read his 4/10 review HERE.
