Ryan Reynolds has provided Netflix with another hit after appearing in 6 Underground and Red Notice. The Adam Project debuted on the streamer last Friday and it has already clocked the third-best debut week for a Netflix movie, per Deadline.
The reteaming of director Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds reached 92.4 million hours watched by the platform’s subscribers for the week ending March 13. The figure includes all hours watched for the movie which represents both those who’ve watched it once and multiple times.
The first weekend for The Adam Project ranks behind the launch of Red Notice, which also starred Reynolds alongside Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot. That film clocked a massive 148.7 million hours for the weekend ending November 12, 2021. Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up follows with 111 million hours for the week ending December 23, 2021. The time-traveling sci-fi film did pull ahead of The Kissing Booth 3, which registered 90.8 million hours the week ending August 15, 2021.
Samba TV, a third-party service that tracks data from certain Smart TVs, showed that 3 million U.S. households watched The Adam Project during its first weekend streaming on Netflix. The service also showed that 384,000 households watched the film within the same 3-day period. You can check out the Samba TV stats below!
Per the film’s official logline, “A time-traveling pilot teams up with his younger self and his late father to come to terms with his past while saving the future.” In addition to Reynolds, Garner, and Scobell, the film also stars Mark Ruffalo, Catherine Keener, and Zoe Saldaña.
