Yesterday news broke that this year’s Oscars would officially go hostless for the first time in 30 years after the previous host Kevin Hart dropped out for reasons we’re all tired of talking about. Now the Academy is trying to fill the void by packing the stage with more A-list talent than usual, and word is the organization is trying to assemble the Avengers themselves to help save the day and give the ceremony a much-needed dose of spectacle.

THR got the exclusive that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is apparently trying to recruit as many cast members from the Avengers movies as possible, which includes stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chadwick Boseman and so, so many more. The report goes on to detail that sources are saying the Academy is trying to figure out the details of how to get all the recruited cast members to present multiple awards throughout the evening. The move is not all that surprising given that the Oscars air on the Disney-owned ABC, and assembling the Avengers to present a ton of awards would only be a good thing for the upcoming AVENGERS: ENDGAME in April.

The cast of the AVENGERS movies has grown exponentially over the years, with INFINITY WAR starring about two dozen A-list stars, meaning there’s plenty of talent to go around. In fact, word is several actors were asked not to present at the recent Golden Globes, as to keep their potential Oscar appearances more special. Cast members of BLACK PANTHER did present their movie at the Globes, but come on, can’t exactly leave that to Martin Freeman, can you?
Lord knows if they will get as many Avengers as you can fit on one stage, but doing so seems to be a smart move for everyone. The cast of the Avengers has grown more diverse over the years, including acting vets and new talent alike. Plus, saying the Avengers will be there makes for great advertising, and viewers are something the Oscars need more than a host. Really there's no downside to getting Earth Mightiest Heroes on the stage (is shameless promotion a downside?), so I say bring them all on, and hell, throw in a few villains to add some awkward moments.
AVENGERS: ENDGAME hits theaters April 26.
