Thanks to your nominations we have now compiled the final list of nominees for The 14th Annual JoBlo Movie Awards (aka The Golden Schmoes)! Final voting begins tomorrow and runs from Monday, February 9th through Thursday, February 19th, with winners to be announced on Friday, February 20th, just ahead of the Oscars!
There's a healthy mix of the expected in the nominations this year, but not without the odd surprise here and there. While BOYHOOD has been sweeping up awards left and right, it only accounted for a few nominations, with GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, BIRDMAN and INTERSTELLAR leading the pack for the most nominated. There was a lot of love for both EDGE OF TOMORROW and UNDER THE SKIN as well, which was nice to see. It was also good to see CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER get some recognition, as it was mostly overlooked on a lot of end-of-year lists after a great box office run and critical reception.
No records were broken in terms of MOST nominations (which still belongs to Christopher Nolan's INCEPTION with 19 nominations), but some were obviously favored more than others (see the most-nominated below). The selections were very consistent with the JoBlo.com audience and for that, we're very proud. While you could say that anything Nolan or Marvel is an easy shoe-in for us, we'll take that as a compliment (Also to note: Nothing Middle-Earth related this year for once!). There's plenty of other nominees that cross into the critical fave realm, but the fan-based selections always make us happy as we feel there's room for all types of films when you're talking about the best of the year. Now comes the really fun part: Choosing the winners! But first, take a look at all the nominees and start mulling over who you'll vote for come Monday morning!
