For years, the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre house set on the same plot of land it was located on when director Tobe Hooper and his cast and crew filmed the movie there in 1973. The road running past it was closed off, but civilization was closing in on it. The land where the house used to be is now taken up by a mixed-use development called La Frontera – but back in the ’90s, the house was sold and moved approximately sixty miles from Round Rock, Texas to Kingsland, Texas… where it was turned into the Grand Central Cafe and Club Car Bar, which sits on the grounds of the Antlers Hotel. Many Texas Chainsaw Massacre fan events have been held at the house over the years. But unfortunately, it has now been sold again and its future is uncertain.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre cast member Allen Danziger took to Instagram to share the news that one more fan event is going to be held at the house before it changes hands. The event is called The Last Curtain Call for Chainsaw, and Danziger (who played Jerry in the film) will be present for a screening of the film, photos with fans, autograph signings, and some live music. Edwin Neal, who played the Hitch-Hiker, will also be there, as will actor Parrish Randall, who doesn’t have any Chainsaw credits but has been in genre films like Chillerama and Hairmetal Shotgun Zombie Massacre: The Movie. The event will take place on October 29th, from 3pm until dark.
Directed by Tobe Hooper from a script he wrote with Kim Henkel, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has the following synopsis:
When Sally hears that her grandfather’s grave may have been vandalized, she and her paraplegic brother, Franklin, set out with their friends to investigate. After a detour to their family’s old farmhouse, they discover a group of crazed, murderous outcasts living next door. As the group is attacked one by one by the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface, who wears a mask of human skin, the survivors must do everything they can to escape.
Danziger and Neal were joined in the cast by Marilyn Burns, Paul A. Partain, Jim Siedow, William Vail, Teri McMinn, John Dugan, and Gunnar Hansen.
